Kolonics Pincészet is a multigenerational family estate on the southeastern side of Somló, in the Apátság vineyard. The family farms around nine hectares, working primarily with Olaszrizling, Juhfark and Hárslevelű.
The wines are made in a traditional Somló style, with controlled yields, barrel fermentation and extended ageing. Many remain in the cellar for one, two or even three years before bottling. Károly Kolonics produces substantial, layered wines that reward patience and give a clear expression of Somló’s strength and volcanic character.
